The British Return to Ft. Meigs, June 4, 2006 By Sharyn Kitzmiller
We could sum up the last few weeks with "RAIN DROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD" or "DON'T LET THE RAIN FALL DOWN ON YOU" ...another car show and another rainy gray start but ONCE again a beautiful day laid ahead. NCTA had a respectful showing with 13 members venturing to the Fort Meigs car show, otherwise know as The Return of the British to Fort Meigs, sponsored by the Lake Erie British Car Club. Some bad internet directions (can't believe everything you read) for some and a less than great breakfast stop for others but when we all got there and shared Ken and Marg's tree an enjoyable day was had by all. Carolyn, granddaughter of the Nesbitt's even got a sky high view of the event area in a tree trimmer. NCTA provided a mechanical consultant. It seems that Jim Shear's name was being passed around as the go-to-guy for machine questions on TR's - starters, wiring, and of course the "emergency bonnet release". This show always seems to have somewhat of a "special" class platform and did so again this year. If you want to be adventurous and put your award-winning car to the test in a maybe non-standard class arrangement, you should give this show a try. However, the Detroit Triumph Club had their share of class winners this year. Whatever the class arrangement NCTA always has winners and this year they were as follows:
CLASS OPEN 1973-74 - 1ST PLACE - Jim Perone's Mini CLASS TRIUMPH 1975-77 - AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - Carolyn Nesbitt (SPITFIRE) and Ken Kreiner (TR6) CLASS TRIUMPH 1978-80 = 1ST PLACE LeMoyne Nesbitt (TR8)
The Lake Erie club also has a trivia quiz each year and Tim Langreder is usually our representative in the winners circle, however, Tim was unavailable this year but Dad, Eric, along with Karen Perone did the honors with a 2nd and 3rd place. Anyone know what cross street is mentioned in the song “Dead Man’s Curve” and do you know what a "ney cover" is. Ask Eric or Karen for the answers.
